Opening prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, from An Hour With Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely form now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm, he was scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones and lifted the lowly, he has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors to Abraham and to his descendants forever. Luke 1:46-55
Mary was blessed with his graces and the living spirit within her. Mary was chosen and blessed among all women. Mary’s life should be encouraging, despite how she felt terrified and asking the question: Who would believe her? And the possible chances of stoning because of her devoted service to God. It wasn’t until visiting her cousin Elizabeth, that Mary felt reassured, and accepted God’s blessing and to prophesy. “From this day forward all generations will call me blessed. For you the Almighty, have done great things for me.” Luke 1:48-49. In her womb, Mary carries Jesus and Mary is the Holy Mother of God. Through her devotion to God, we all seek May’s help, guidance and with the hour of our death.
Women of Faith and Hope, may we keep Mary Mother of God’s example alive and continue to challenge ourselves to trust the spirit, to embrace our blessings and to rejoice in the beauty of the person’s God created us to be.
