God is Peace!

“Peace to this house.”

 Luke 10:1-12, 17-20

I guess there is nothing worse than something or someone disturbing our peace and when it does it is terrible, and you can’t figure out why? But in that moment, you must learn to be strong, let it go and give it to God because we all deserve and hope to live with peace in our hearts and in our lives. I suppose that is easy said than done but believe me with experience and practice it becomes easier to do because sometimes it’s not worth the fight or the argument.

I truly believe peace, we have Women of Faith and Hope, a peace which was left for each one of us.

So, may the peace of God reign in your hearts forever Colossians 3:15. Because peace is something we all desire and hope to acquire someday even now in the present moment. How important is peace in our lives? Peace is very important, we need peace for our wellbeing, it helps to build unity, to keep a world balanced and safe, and brings happiness and freedom between all people and countries.

James 3:17-18

Whereas the wisdom that comes down from above is essentially something pure; it also makes for peace and is kindly and considerate; it is full of compassion and shows itself by doing good; nor is there any trace of partiality or hypocrisy in it.

Peacemakers, when they work for peace, sow the seeds which will bear fruit in holiness.

Now that we have decided to follow our hearts that is where we shall find God’s peace. A peace greater than we could ever understand or imagine, a peace that would guard our hearts and our thoughts Philippians 4:7.

Maybe we challenge ourselves this week to speak words of peace to ourselves and to one another. That is what this week’s Gospel is about not allowing anything or anyone to disturb our peace, God’s peace that rests upon us as we go out, to do good for others and to make a difference in the world.

Ephesians 6:15

Wearing for shoes on your feet the eagerness to spread the Gospel of peace.

May God Bless Always, Women of Faith and Hope.

Remember, God’s love and peace reign in our hearts and his message and words live deeply within us. Basically, we can conquer anything so rejoice! ‘For our names are written in heaven.’

Grow in knowledge of God.

 Psalm 89:2

Before the mountains were born on, the earths or the world brought forth, you are God, without beginning or end.

The best way to know God is to firstly know Jesus our Savior. Certainly, we have been getting to know Jesus this year by exploring the Beatitudes, light, prayer, and the sacred heart. But to begin any journey we start at the beginning where we see our creator who made the heavens and earth with great power and outstretched arms. Secondly, nothing is impossible for our God, a God who shows kindness, love, and patience. Thirdly, we come to know a God of great purpose whose eyes are wide opened to all the ways of his people, his creation, his earth. It’s hard to fathom the greatness and power of God, it is way beyond my understanding, yet it is something I/we must try and do. For, there is nowhere we can go from a God who is Spirit because anywhere we go or if we flee from his face there he will be. He chose us, chose us in Christ and in turn we choose God, a Father of all, over all, through all and within all Ephesians 4:6 who loves us so much and who is generous with his mercy.

Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all the spiritual blessings of heaven in Christ.

Who is God?

John 14:6-7

‘I am the way, the truth, and the Life.

No one can come to the father except through me.

If you know me, you know my father too.

From this moment you know him and have seen him.’

Who is God to you?

or

What does God mean to you?

In my view, God is many things plus a whole lot more. God is love, God keeps his promises, God protects, leads, and comforts us. God is a friend, teacher who seeks us out, he is a God of blessings, compassion, and healing. A God who is passionate, merciful and forgiving and over the years there are many who search for God, there are many who find him and there are many who are still searching and seeking him out. But have we ever wondered what we search for is searching for us? Are we hiding? I don’t believe we are hiding Women of Faith and Hope, we have found him it’s a matter of getting to know him intimately and passionately like any new relationship we want to know all that we can.  So, this month I want to know who God is? Because he truly is a mystery and way beyond my comprehension, and I want to invite you all Women of Faith and Hope to join me on this journey.

Following my heart.

Today, let us be filled with the spirit of joy for we were once lost but now we are found, we are captured by a man whose heart loved us so much.

“Listen to your heart, it harbors sacred things. Give from your heart; abundance it brings. Pray through your heart, guidance in need. Follow your heart, it knows how to lead.” Author Paul mark Sutherland

Am I still afraid to follow my heart?

I maybe still afraid to follow my heart but what would fear achieve?

Here is some Good News, as a shepherd keeps all his flock in view when he stands up in the middle of his scattered sheep, so shall Jesus, he will keep us all in his view. He will rescue us from wherever we have been scattered during darkness. Therefore, what I have learnt is to step up without fear and to have courage for I no longer close my heart off to him I need to love and trust him for he will show me where to rest and will feed and nourish me Ezekiel; 34:11-16.

So, as we approach with confidence to greet his heart and offer our own, we draw a breath and draw close to him. Where we stand, we shall know his mercy and find his grace when we need his help. God loved the world so much that he sent his only son to save us from being condemned. Do not be afraid to take heart and hold him close for our hope is in the Lord. Because we must love our Lord God with all our hearts, with all our souls and with all our minds. If I don’t follow my heart for the rest of my life, I may regret it. Let us not regret anything, follow, and look to him the one who was pierced on his side, his heart for our sake. Every drop of Christ’s blood is shed for all humanity this is truly a sign of his infinite love, a pledge of hope for every man, woman, and child.

Memories of the Heart

Did you know that our heart contains a little brain composed of 40,000 neurons that can sense, feel, learn, and remember? I didn’t but as I conduct research on the sacred heart of Jesus, I am learning quite a lot about our human hearts.

Scientists have investigated in various psychological and physiological ways but what stood out was the heart rate variability and heart rhythms that reflected a person’s inner emotional states and stress. Research shows that our negative emotions can lead to an increased heart rhythms that can affect our nervous system and our whole body on the other hand positive emotions can increase and create peace and improve our heart rhythms and our nervous system. What scientists are more intrigued with is our hearts have a mind of their own and what seems to influence the way we see and respond to the world and to people who we interact with.

So, if our hearts have a brain how many memories do we keep in our hearts? What are our significant heart memories?

I have many memories from my heart my first kiss, my first date, my wedding day and my children who constantly fill my heart with love and joy. Another memory is those who were a part of my life but now have gone sadly and the life of Jesus which is always kept in my heart as this beautiful reminder of a life I should be building for myself and my family.

This weekend we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) and this celebration we remember our Lord who is compassionate, merciful, he forgives sins and saves in days of distress Ecclesiasticus 2:11. Also, we remember what Jesus said “I am the bread of life” a life that is a source of spirituality, we shall never be hungry or thirsty again, but we do hunger and thirst again and again. It maybe hard to digest that when we assemble and come together to celebrate, we are celebrating Jesus who is a man, who is human and we celebrate his birth, his life, his death, his resurrection, and his intercessions. While it may be hard to swallow at times let us look straight at the heart of Jesus and see what he is feeling.

I can tell you what he was feeling, he was feeling love for all humanity despite the pain and suffering. The sacred heart of Jesus and the Holy Eucharist are one thing that expresses his great love which at times we take for granted because life can be so busy or we simply forget to spend time in prayer, or with scripture. In the back of my little brain heart, I hear “Do this in memory of me,” which I take to mean, come to me, and remember how I came to earth, I died on the cross for you to live your life. I sent my spirit for you, and I am as intimate to you as your own heartbeat, and I will always be with you. As you go on your journey, I will give you a taste of my love which maybe like the time you floated on your back in a pool and it was peaceful, all your worries and anxieties seeped from your body and soul.

Women of Faith and Hope, as you sit, read, and mediate on God this week know that he is inviting you to call on him, to cry out that you need him, need him to be faithful to you now. Sometimes, we don’t realize how close he is and it maybe possible that he is working in our lives in ways we don’t see or understand and that is what this weekend is about. What we eat and drink changes our lives in ways we don’t see or understand. Amaze us O Lord.

Chaperone

Psalm 18:1

The heavens proclaim the glory of God, and the firmament shows forth the work of his hands. Day unto day takes up the story and night unto night makes known the message.

Thursday night I had a dream and this man in my dream said to me, “is your chaperone with you?” I said, “yes they are with me,” as I looked down at my children who were looking at some Lego we just brought and while elephants were climbing over a brick wall. Then the man mentioned chaperone again and then sat back in his chair and reappeared later on in my dream.  Anyway, all day I couldn't stop thinking about the word chaperone which means a person who looks after another person or who is a protector or a companion and even chaperone means to be a shepherd. Obviously, I thought about this weekend how we celebrate the The Most Holy Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

As I grow and open myself up more to my faith I realize everything I have belongs to God in some way and I do believe my children are gifts I have received from prayers I have made.

Our lives are a journey and it takes time to reach a certain destination, a place where you can feel confident, supported and encouraged because we have persevered and kept up the fight we have seen God's love poured into our lives, into our hearts. Boastfully, we can now say we have seen your glory God, yet there is still more to discover. Everyday, I feel you with me and everyday my eyes and heart are opened to see your splendor and majesty. You free us and heal us to make changes and grow in faith and hope. My life truly is glorifying you O Lord. So, I say peace to you all Women of Faith and Hope, we are people of goodwill, take heart and give glory to God our chaperone in the highest heavens. For we will be led to the complete truth of all things that are yet to come by a God who is, who was, and who is to come.

A Beating Heart

A Beating Heart

I always looked forward to hearing the heartbeat of my babies on the monitor it brought me so much joy. Why does our heartbeat? Well, our hearts beat because of the heart valves opening and closing as they pump blood but what did the heart of Jesus beat? The heart of Jesus beat LOVE! Our heart can also beat LOVE! I suppose I have been unsuccessful in love, loving God, loving others even loving myself. But this is the time to be successful and make a change and open my heart up to love, to understand love and know God’s love for us. Because I can’t really say I appreciate the full meaning of verse 10 in 1 John 4:7-16, “This the love I mean: not our love for God, but God’s love for us when he sent his Son to be the sacrifice that takes our sins away.” I don’t want to fail in love anymore God loves us so much, shouldn’t we love one another after all that is us fulfilling a life lived as Christians. If we close our hearts off by deleting, rejecting, excluding, making people feel as though they are not good enough, worthy, they don’t belong, they have no part in the Body of Christ than we are not living up to the life Christ wants for us. I finally understand my role and my vocation as a mother and woman whose profession is secular and in lots of ways, I make Christ known especially by my testimony of a life lived in faith, hope and charity. My hope is that I can fervently be an example of God’s love in my works, prayers, in my family and daily life.

A Prayer From the Heart.

Prayer From the Heart

Women of Faith and Hope, I take this from the Catechism of The Catholic Church (CCS, 777), “The word “Church” means convocation.” It designates the assembly of those whom God’s Word “convokes.” i.e., gathers together to form the People of God, and who themselves, nourished with the Body of Christ, become the Body of Christ.”

Church is an assembly of people or the whole universal community of believers who God calls together from all walks of life.  Today is Pentecost and it marks the birth of the Church, which is primarily born of Christ’s crucifixion, from the pierced heart of Christ hanging on the cross. On Monday it was my daughter’s birthday, and there were some questions such as what happened on the day I was born? How did you feel mum? I thought of how much love I felt and that my love for my daughter will never end.

None of us are perfect but as we gather and assemble in “Church” we keep and uphold the unity which is a gift from God because we are called to maintain unity not to create unity meaning we should not be the one to cause division but rather live in peace and harmony with each other. Maybe a great sign of living in communion with God is to stay united like a new mother and her baby and to allow The Holy Spirit to teach us everything. We may be different, but we are separate parts adding our own strengths to a body that should be built up in love and in communion, not hate or division. So, what is it about? I think we all know, it’s about love, the love God has poured out for us all through the Spirit of God who dwells within us and in our hearts. As Brides do we respond with the gift of love a gift given by the bridegroom? So, today I think of the never-ending love God has for me, my family, friends, for all of you Women of Faith and Hope and the never-ending love I have for God.

Let me leave you with this from the Catechism of The Catholic Church (CCS, 779), The Church is both visible and spiritual, a hierarchical society and the Mystical Body of Christ. She is one, yet formed of two components, human and divine. That is her mystery, which only faith can accept.
