The first love of the sacred heart began with the beloved Apostle, St. John the Evangelist. It is written during the Last Supper he reclined his head upon the breast of Jesus, and he was the first to have heard the pulsation of the Divine Heart. The sacred heart of Jesus is known as a font of love and with that love the church was born and is supposed to nourish all of us well that is our hope.
“Behold the Heart which has so
loved the world that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming
itself, in order to testify its love; and in return, I receive from the greater
part only ingratitude, by their irreverence and sacrilege, and by the coldness
and contempt they have for Me in the Eucharist.” Revelation of the Sacred Heart
