Joyful People of Integrity
This Sunday we are to become joyful people of integrity.
“In the house of God there is never ending festival; the
angel choir makes eternal holiday; the presence of God’s face gives joy that
never fails.”
Saint Augustine
During the week I watched the movie Mary on Netflix, and I wanted to say
it was a beautiful movie and one I recommend watching.
I wonder what the festival will be like in heaven, will there be music? Will
there be chips and chocolate? Also, who will be there celebrating, dancing and
shouting for joy?
We know for certain on a day of festival that God will be there exulting
with joy over us, renewing us by his love, dancing and shouting for joy for us.
Zephaniah 3:14-18
We do not need to be fearful for he is truly present and near to us all
and I know that sometimes it’s hard to comprehend that presence of God and to
trust with all your heart, soul and strength. But he is near and all he wants
is for us to be happy and to share that happiness and joy with others because
why should we keep it to ourselves?
We have been talking a lot about integrity and Spiritual integrity is
where our values are aligned with the words we speak and the actions we take. In
fact, spiritual integrity is the same as goodness which is one of the fruits of
the Spirit.
So, what must we do?
“The saints were not superhuman. They were people who loved
God in their hearts, and who shared this joy with others.”
Saint Rose of Lima
I think this is a question we need to contemplate
and pray about this week because we are all directed by the Spirit in different
ways and we all have different perspectives and understanding and that’s ok.
For now, let us put on our own festival, dance,
eat and shout for joy.
“The soul of the one who serves God always swims in joy,
always keeps holiday, and is always in the mood for singing.”
Saint John of the Cross

The Cloak of the Integrity of God
This Sunday we are to put the cloak of the integrity of God around us.
‘Peace
through integrity, and honour through devotedness.’
Baruch
5:1-9
The cloak of the
integrity of God reminds me of Joseph and his beautiful coat which is a gift
given to him by his father Jacob also known as Israel. We seek many things in
this life, happiness, acceptance, love, worth, appreciation, acknowledgement
and peace. A peace where there is no more suffering, worries or anxieties, you
only feel loved, safe and calm.
I reread the story of
Joseph he suffered greatly, his brothers were jealous, they sold him as a slave
far away in Egypt. But there was something special about Joseph. God watched
over him because he had a particular plan for his life. I bet if we looked
deeply within ourselves, we may re
alise the vision God has for our lives.
Sometimes, it feels
like nothing goes my way no matter how hard I work or try but when I read the
story of Joseph and put the cloak of integrity of God around my shoulders, I am
reminded to push aside the insults, rejections, work on my jealousy and anger, and
learn to forgive. There are still some people and circumstances that I find
hard to let go of because I am not ready to forgive them or the situation. Everyday
though God shows up by taking care of us, by watching over us like he watched
over Joseph.
We are asked to prepare
a way for Jesus to come into our lives, but I believe that Jesus prepares a way
for us, he hears our cries, he makes our paths straight, all the roads we
travel are made smooth and he shows us the path of integrity.
We want the salvation
of God that is promised to us, and we all need peace in our lives, but it comes
down to these questions what are we willing to do to be at peace? How far are we
willing to go to be at peace?
I will leave you with
this quote.
‘It boils down to this: peace is your home; integrity
is the way to it. And everything you long for will meet you there’.

The Lord Our Integrity
The Lord our-integrity
Christ is our integrity this Sunday the first Sunday of the
Advent season. Over the last 5 months a lot has changed for me and my family,
and I am constantly reminded to never take anything for granted and to always
be grateful. A few weeks ago, I couldn’t stop thinking about the “Our Father”
and when we pray, “on earth as it is in Heaven.” It kept replaying in my head repeatedly
until I started to say, “we need to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in this
world.”
“Christ
has no body on Earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours
are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion for the world is to look out.
Yours are the feet which he is to go about doing good; and yours are the hands
with which he is to bless us now.”
St.
Teresa of Avila
I hope these words of Saint Teresa of Avila bring you hope
this Sunday. Or remind you that we have many examples teaching us to walk in truth,
to remain humble and be generous with love. Love for God, love for your
neighbour and love for yourself.
When we choose the right path and become the hands and feet of
Jesus, we bring people who walked in darkness into the light, we make their gladness
greater and their yokes lighter. “For there is a child
born for us, a son given to us and the name they give him; Wonder Counsellor,
Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” Isaiah 9:5.
There are many of our neighbours struggling, emotionally,
mentally, physically, financially and socially and if I have left out anything
please forgive me but all I wanted to say is this Advent let’s keep them in our
prayers and in our hearts and may they encounter the hands and feet of Jesus.
May God Bless Always, Faith, Hope and Love by My Mother Rose.

September 2024
This September let us investigate Godly characteristics.
What do I mean? Well, we all have a characteristic, attributes a feature that
belongs to us. If I asked you what your Godly character was? Could you tell me,
or do you find it difficult to describe yourself? Sometimes, I find it difficult
to be kind to myself and say that I am a kind and caring woman who would do
anything for anyone. So, let’s explore different characteristics of God this
September.

Message in Prayer
John 6:35
Jesus answered: ‘I am the bread of life. He
who comes to me will never be hungry, he who believes will never thirst.’
I wanted to share this video with you all.
I felt like I had to and hopefully it goes to the right person. If not, I pray
for them. But I wanted to add something else because my daughter Jade pointed
out the writing on the windows in the chapel and it said “I am the bread of life.” if you
read down further in verse 37 of John chapter 6 Jesus says: “All that the
Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I shall not turn them
away.” As I said in the video God is not cruel, he welcomes each one of us with
open arms and he loves us more than anything. May God Bless Always, Faith, Hope

Cooking with Children Project Pizza
“The little hands that cook today may become the professional
chefs of tomorrow.’ Author Julia Child.
Food, glorious food! We love food in our family, and I do
love cooking when I have a boost of energy that is. But if I am feeling low, I
tend to be a little lazy and order take out. However, this month I wanted to do
some cooking with my children, and I am hoping you can join in the fun and do
some cooking of your own. Teaching children to cook is important, it’s teaching
them new skills, how to appreciate the art and the fun of it. It also encourages
their fine motor skills, and they can gain confidence in learning to become
independent when they are preparing their lunches for school. I think though children
can learn to understand how much time and effort it takes for a parent or caregiver
to prepare a meal, and it goes much faster when you work together to put food on
the table.
‘When we make pizza, we make pizza with a
joyful heart, we eat it with gladness and wash down with a good drink.’ Here is our first cooking project
making pizza.
“Cooking with
kids is not just about ingredients, recipes, and cooking. It’s about harnessing
imagination, empowerment, and creativity.” Author Guy Fieri.

To you, O Mary,
We turn our gaze with
stronger trepidation, to you we hasten back with more insistent trust in these
times scarred by a multitude of doubts and fears for the present and future
destiny of our planet.
To you, the first fruits of
humanity redeemed by Christ, set free at last from the slavery of evil and sin,
we raise together our heartfelt, trusting plea; listen to the cry of pain of the
war victims, of the victims of the many forms of violence that bathe the earth
in blood.
Dispel the shadows of sorrow
and of loneliness, of hatred and of revenge. Open to forgiveness the minds and
hearts of all!
Queen of Peace, pray for us!
Mother of mercy and of hope,
obtain for the men and women of the third millennium the precious gift of peace;
peace in hearts and families, in communities and among peoples; peace above all
for those nations where people fight and die every day. Obtain that every human
being of every race and culture may encounter and accept Jesus, who came down to
earth in the mystery of Christmas to give ‘his’ peace to us.

What Stands the Test of Time?
What stands the test of time? Is it love, our faith, our hopes, our dreams? I don’t know why but I have had that saying or quote on my mind “standing the test of time.” What could last forever and never fail us? I might be a little hard on myself here when I say sometimes, I feel as though my faith is weak but really my faith is strong enough to last me a lifetime. I also thought my faith has never failed me, but I could say that I have failed my faith by giving up and losing confidence.
While I was thinking about that saying, ‘what stands the
test of time?’ The thought came to me that the word of God is something that continuously
stands the test of time. So, I solider on living for right now knowing that the
grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of God remains forever Isaiah
40:8.
What words I read in the bible I take to heart and somehow
God is educating me in the ways of wisdom, guiding me along my path ensuring
that I am not stumbling. So, I keep my eyes on the word of God for it is a part of my life, the race I run, the trials I have and when I feel my faith is being
tested.
My mum reminded me today to be kind to myself and I
understood what really stands the test of time is love. Love is the greatest, it
never fails us, no matter the distance true love will last us a lifetime or
more.

The Heart of Mary
Today is the devotion of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mary is a great example for she shows us how to listen to the words the Holy Spirit speaks to us in the depths of our hearts.
Over the past couple of days, I have been listening to the song Joyful, Joyful after watching The View celebrate 30 years of Sister Act 2. The song reminds me in God I will find my strength, the light and I need to unfold my heart like a flower more and let God in. For he lifts us up when we are low, and he is the giver of life.

Easter Facts
Here
are a few facts about Easter,
- Easter is derived from Eostre, an ancient
Anglo-Saxon goddess who symbolized the rebirth of the day at dawn and the
rebirth of life in Spring.
- Eostre, the goddess of Fertility and spring is also
symbolized by the rabbit.
- According to some the Easter bunny originated among
the German Lutherans known as the “Easter Hare.”
- The Easter Hare would deliver Easter eggs, which is
an ancient celebration thought to have begun in the medieval period.

What My Eyes Have Seen
I think this is the
first year that I haven’t shared any thoughts, prayers or verses about Palm
Sunday, the Last Supper, or the Passion of Christ. However, I saw the Easter
weekend as an opportunity for me to reset and refresh my mind and my heart. Over
the weekend I went away with my family, and we went to a beautiful beach and in
every experience, I saw what the Almighty has done for me and for you. He has
created great things for us to gaze upon, to feel, to touch and to hear. For my
eyes, ears and mind weren’t prepared for the things God has done for us. I felt
as though my eyes had been shut for a very long time and over the weekend, I
saw the invisible things that are eternal such as the stars and rainbows. My eyes
were opened to some of the incredible wonders of this world.
‘You believe because you can see me. Happy are those who have not seen and
yet believe.’ Jesus continues to say
to Thomas, ‘Doubt no longer but believe.’ John 20:19-31
I suppose it can be disappointing
and somewhat disheartening when we cannot see what others can see. I have had
doubts and fears but over the weekend I was united with my family and finally I
was able to let go of all my doubts and fears and be happy and at peace.
Every Easter, we are
invited to renew our faith, hopes, and love in God and in his magnificent creation.
I believe because I have seen the work of the Lord and there is a marvel in my
eyes. Every now and then God sends us a sign or a gift from above and one gift
was sent to make everything new again. God is our refuge, and we are his people
whom he loves very much. So, this Easter rejoice and be glad for the things we
have seen. Happy Easter!

Reflection of Hope
“He will either shield you from suffering or will give you
unfailing strength to bear it. Be at Peace and put aside all anxious thoughts
and imaginations.” Saint Francis de Sales
Hope heals us, it fights our fears, and it opens our eyes
to opportunities. Each day I try to live a life of hope but somedays it can be hard.
Something I was thinking about was this Lenten journey is a journey of hope. We
experience the darkness, and we wait in hope for the rising of Jesus on Easter
Sunday. When I think about that I know that it’s ok to be optimistic and
believe that everything will be fine. The darkness is not permanent, it will pass,
and we will see the light again. This journey is teaching me to focus on the
things that make me happy and bring me peace and one thing I focus on is Hope,
as well as Faith and Love. Without those three ingredients I would be lost still
finding my way.
He's waiting for me wherever I am on my journey, and he
guides me into the light, a light that I love. I also love the image by
Michaelangelo where the hand of God is outstretched reaching for Adam’s hand.
This image reminds me that God created earth and created us all in his image
and likeness. It also suggests that God loved the world so much that he wants
to reach out and help us on our journey by his love and compassion. There is
another way he shows us his love and that is by sending his only son into the
world to save us.
There is hope in his love and if we choose to believe and
trust than hold your hand out and allow his hand to lift you up into the light
and may that light shine brightly on you for you are truly blessed and loved by
God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
'Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life. For God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world, but so that through him the world might be saved. John 3:14-21'

Find Peace in Me
Reflection
for Lent 2024
Find Peace in me.
As I walk
into the desert with faith, even though my heart can sometimes be restless, and
my mind often wanders away from the one who strengthens me with joyful hope and
patience. However, I have embarked on a Lenten journey to promote and spread
peace, light, and strength for myself, for others and for the whole world.
Like many
others I ask the question will there ever be peace in this world? For peace is
a basic right of every human being that lives and breathes on this earth. So,
why can’t there be peace in the world?
Where
does peace begin? Peace begins within our homes; in the way we act towards one
another and in the way we speak to one another. As adults we are examples to
our children in creating environments that are safe and peaceful. I am not quite sure who wrote the following,
but it is a popular proverb and one for our times. “If it is yours, do not take
it, if you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything at all and if it’s
not right, then don’t do it.” We are examples of peace, and our children model
our behavior, and actions. How can we teach peace and expect children to be
respectful when adults are at war with each other and there is no peace or
respect obvious to see.
I love
the prayer to St. Francis especially the beginning “Lord, make me an instrument
of your peace.” Peace is something special that we all seek and would like to
acquire in this world and as a mother I would love my children to live in a
world of peace and in fact I would love the whole world to live in peace.
As mother
Teresa says, peace begins in our homes and with a smile.
This
Lenten journey I am challenging myself and I would like to help others to grow
closer to God and to experience his peace, a peace he can only give. Peace is a
special gift, and it is never far from us, and I am reminded of that when I
read John chapter 16 verse 33, “I have told you all this so that you may find
peace in me. In the world you will have trouble but be brave: I have conquered
the world.” Yes, there will be suffering in this world we live in but we are always
to remember God is with us always and so is his peace so we must be brave and
look to Jesus the one who conquered the world and one day we will too. Every day when we walk in the land of the
living the Lord walks with us and we are encouraged to be strong and courageous.
I pray
that we may find peace within ourselves and with others this Lent because peace
is ours the closer, we grow to God. God Bless Always.
