'Take Me For Your Model.'

1 Corinthians 11:1,

‘Take me for your model,

 as I take Christ.’

Who do we take as our model in life?

For most of us, it would be our parents or our primary careers in life.

As a mother, I know my children imitate everything I do, my actions, my behavior, my attitude even down to the things I say especially when I talk about others or I complain about something.

But one must try their best to model good behavior, actions that speak of love, kindness, as it says in Colossians 3:12 we are God’s chosen race, his Saints; he loves us, and we should be clothed in sincere compassion, humility, gentleness and patience.

This week, we are to take Saint Paul as a model, guide and why not? Saint Paul is a great example of a sinner who has converted, who has turned completely towards the Lord, towards the light, who has heard his voice and who works for Christ.

As children of God, we are to try, then, to imitate God, to be a companion, to show support and to love because as Children of his, he loves us, so why not love one another and be that example for our Children to imitate?

Most of all we should model his compassion, Jesus was quite confident in placing his hand on a man and saying, ‘Be cured!’

Are we that confident? Do we have that same attitude as Jesus, ‘Of course I want to?’

Women of Faith and Hope, we do not need to be afraid, but in all things we do, we should do it for the Glory of God. It doesn’t necessarily mean we have to be perfect because no one is perfect but as long as we try and do the best we can, that is all that matters after all, if we all aim to be the best versions of ourselves, to be an example of good and acts of compassion and mercy.

‘Imitate not discriminate,’

‘Love not hate,’

‘Surrender not pretender,’

‘Truth not lies.’

One last thought, in this life we sometimes only get one chance to do it right, because I can tell you, I am not coming back to do it all over again, I want to learn all my lessons now. So, I say let us be mindful of the lives we are trying to shape and not forget the things our own eyes have seen or allow them to slip from our hearts as long as we live, because after all we are the ones who teach our Children and their Children. Deuteronomy 4:9. I do hope that my Children take me for their model as I take not only Christ but my Mum, my Sisters, my Grandparents, my Great Aunties, my Aunties, my Cousins and all of you Women of Faith and Hope.

‘Be happy, for when you smile, I know God is near.’

May God Bless Always, Women of Faith and Hope
