Preparation!

I was reading my children the book; A Star in the Holy Night, by Mathias Jeschke/ Giuliano Ferri, I wanted to share something from it for this week’s reflection.

‘And you, my child, will walk ahead and prepare the way for him. You will shout to the people’

“Here comes the light that banishes darkness! Here comes the one who has been sent by God. The savior is here and he will lead us to peace.”

So, I decided to also share from the bible;

Luke 1:76-79,

And you, little child, you shall be called Prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare the way for him. To give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins; this by the tender mercy of our God who from on high will bring the rising Sun to visit us, to give light to those who live in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

How is everyone travelling? Our first week of Advent, nearly done and dusted, now onto our second week of Advent and we prepare ourselves for Peace. In fact we are preparing the way for our Lord, and we are to make his path straight. I was reading the Gospel and reading for this Sunday and Women of Faith and Hope, we are messengers and every time we go to mass, we are given instructions to go forth and share the Good News. In some ways, we are that voice crying in the wilderness of this world and of this time. This Advent journey as much as it is our journey towards the infant baby Jesus, its Christ’s journey towards us. Are we longing for the coming of Christ? Yes, we are, we are waiting patiently, hopefully, I believe its touch and go at the present moment, being the last week of school for the year and being so terribly hot. Most of all though we are preparing the way for the Lord and this is the week we read and listen to the Peace God promised us all.

Peace is the way, for our Lord Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. How are we to prepare ourselves and make straight the path for the Lord? I am reminded of the Christmas Carol- ‘Joy to the world’ and the line in the song; “Let every heart prepare him room.” I love that, I really do.

It’s opening our hearts fully, putting our faith and trust in the Lord and not on our own understandings. So than, will you take those steps towards the mountain top to ponder and grow wisely? Are you ready to shout with a loud voice without any fear but with Joy?

‘HERE IS YOUR GOD.’

Isaiah 40:1-5, 9:11

There will always be someone who goes before us, who will eventually watch over us, protect us, as we go along on our everyday journey that will soon lead us to the place which has been prepared for us. Jesus always went ahead and still goes ahead, leading the way for us to follow, we can’t though follow Jesus and stay still, we need to keep on moving, preparing ourselves to meet and welcome God into our lives.

Women of Faith and Hope,

Let us reflect more on the word of God this week, may it be a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. Psalm 118:105, if you are up to it, share the word of God with someone, be that voice on the mountain and shout it out with joy and peace in your heart.

Prepare to meet your God!

Amos 4:12

Someone is following us and is more powerful.

How blest are we though with the Holy Spirit?

May God Bless Always, Women of Faith and Hope,
