“I am the ground of your praying”
Julian of Norwich
Sometimes it’s our pride of heart that leads us
astray, our homes are in the holes of the rocks, the heights become a place to dwell
and in our hearts we say.
“Who will bring me down to the ground?”
Though we have soared like the eagles and have set our
nest among the stars, God will fling us down again- it is the Lord who speaks.
Obadiah 1:3-4
Dame Julian of Norwich or Mother Julian, born 1343,
mystic, became an anchoress, lived in a cell that is attached to the wall of a
church, in 1373 in her cell she wrote; ‘Revelation of Divine Love.”
Supposedly, the book is the best surviving book and
first written in English by a woman.
Julian has not been officially canonized or beatified
by the Roman Catholic Church, why? Is beyond me, Julian has a way with her
words, words of power, love, faith and hope. Her knowledge and understanding of
what it is she is chosen for and what is being asked of her.
While I was reading about Dame Julian of Norwich, I
understood her love that was grounded and rooted and that is what our life is
or should be, ‘grounded.’ And that is what God wants us to have is true
understanding and for it to be grounded with all our strength, courage, our
purpose and intention. It is on the ground, God wants us to take our place and
to make a home.
It was quite evidential in Julian’s writings, that the
reader can have an insight into the sacred mysteries and divine truth of God’s
love.
Know it well, Women of Faith and Hope, Love was the
meaning and still is the meaning.
“All shall
be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.”
Julian of Norwich
