Novena Day One, An Example of Faith and Hope.

We begin with one Our Father, One Hail Mary and One Glory Be to God.

What can we learn from Saint Monica’s faith?

How can we live hopeful lives?

As I am reading about Saint Moncia, I am trying to understand her incredible faith and confidence in God. Lately, I haven’t been committed to my faith. I have strayed and separated myself from the heroic love I once found with all my heart and soul. Expressing my faith and sharing my hopes I am telling a story of a mother, a woman, and a wife who on several occasions has chosen to walk away because of doubt and fear. But Saint Monica reminds me how important it is to persevere and trust in his love, in his words and the assurance of all things that I have ever hoped for. Because when I place my hopes in God’s hands, I understand that nothing is impossible for God and as Saint Monica says; “Nothing is far from God.”

“Monica is a shining example for families today, bringing them courage and hope by guaranteeing that with the grace of God, good will, and perseverance, any difficulty can be overcome in building a true Christian “family founded upon the values of the Gospel.” -Giovanni Falbo.

Her example is that through hardships and trials she remained faithful, she continued to pray and everything she did, she did for her children. Therefore, what we can learn from Saint Monica is that with faith and hope the journey continues and it’s up to us to choose between hope and despair. Faith is an ingredient we need to live hopeful lives, to believe in miracles, to believe in a good future, hope doesn’t give up, hope is ready to persevere and trust. I know that it can be hard to live with faith and hope because not everything goes smoothly and being optimistic all the dam time is exhausting but you must keep going, keep moving forward and live for your children, your families, your friends because life is short. When we are overcome with fear remember to listen to him and hear him say "Stand up, and do not be afraid."

Let us Pray:

Saint Monica you are an example of faith and hope, we pray for your guidance and strength on our journey. May we come to know the true meaning of the spiritual gifts of faith and hope. Amen.

Informal Novena to Saint Monica.

Welcome Faith, Hope and Love by My Mother Rose to our informal novena to Saint Monica. Over the next nine days I would like to highlight Saint Monica’s importance for mother’s and married women. I also would like to discuss her strengths, courage, and endurance as a woman of great faith, hope, love, and prayer.

I read this in Saint Monica, The Power of a Mother’s Love, by Giovanni Falbo, p.55, “a mother’s love, however, knows no bounds or weariness, and Monica’s was made stronger and more preserving by divine grace. Armed more with love and then with physical strength.”

This paragraph gives us an image of how powerful a mother’s love can be. Because we all know that being a mother is hard work, so is letting go and taking a step back for our children to take risks now that is even harder to do and not so easy to write.

However, Faith, Hope and Love by My Mother Rose the good news is “it doesn’t matter how old you are or what you do in your life, you never stop needing your mum” Author Kate Winslet. So, always believe that children will always need their mother’s especially their love, guidance, and patience. Because every day, we get up and remember as women of God we are soft and powerful, both practical and spiritual and our essence is a gift for the whole world.

I am looking forward to this novena and I hope that it can empower and inspire us all to keep going on the journey despite the trials. We are powerful and capable people, therefore, let us bear that in mind over the next nine days.
